MiraVista Shines With Pride

MiraVista Illuminates Hospital in Recognition of Pride Month

Throughout June, MiraVista Behavioral Health Center has joined communities across the country in recognizing Pride Month, illuminating its Holyoke facility in the colors of the rainbow as a visible reminder of the importance of belonging, acceptance, and compassionate care.

For individuals seeking mental health or substance use treatment, the decision to ask for help can be one of the most difficult steps in their journey. Creating environments where people feel welcomed, respected, and supported is an essential part of that process.

“Before healing can begin, people need to feel safe,” said Shelley Zimmerman, COO and Hospital Administrator of MiraVista Behavioral Health Center. “Every day, behavioral health professionals, recovery organizations, schools, healthcare providers, and community partners work to create spaces where individuals can seek support without fear of judgment. Pride Month provides an opportunity to recognize the importance of that work and the value of ensuring everyone feels they belong.”

MiraVista’s rainbow illumination serves as a symbol of values that extend far beyond a single month. The hospital’s staff provide inpatient psychiatric care to adolescents and adults while working to foster a culture of dignity, inclusion, and respect for all individuals and families entrusted to their care.

Across the behavioral health continuum, providers recognize that meaningful treatment begins with trust. For many individuals, that trust is built through simple but powerful experiences: being welcomed, being heard, and being accepted for who they are.

“As a behavioral health hospital, we understand that healing often begins long before a treatment plan is developed,” Zimmerman added. “It begins when someone walks through a door and feels accepted. We are proud to stand alongside our community partners in creating environments where people feel valued, supported, and connected to care.”

The rainbow lights will remain visible throughout Pride Month as a reflection of the hospital’s ongoing commitment to compassionate, person-centered care.
